What Is
The Chamber Of Commerce?
The Meigs County Chamber of Commerce
is a voluntary organization of business and professional men and women
who have joined together for the purpose of promoting the civic and
commercial progress of our community. There are two primary functions
of a Chamber of Commerce: (1) it acts as spokesperson for the business
and professional community and translates into action the group thinking
of its members, and (2) it renders specific services of a type that can
be most effectively rendered by a community organization both to its
members and to the community as a whole.
Objectives Of The Chamber:
-
To promote a better understanding
of the county’s enterprise system.
-
To coordinate the efforts of
commerce and industry in maintaining and strengthening a sound and
healthy business climate in the Meigs County area.
-
To sponsor aggressive programs of
work and stimulate activities that will provide for full development
and employment of our human and economic resources.
-
To provide creative business
leadership and effective coordination of all interested parties in
solving community problems and in initiating constructive community
action.
-
To create a broad understanding
and appreciation of the great opportunities in the Meigs County area,
and to promote the advantages and assets of our community within the
area, in the state, and in the world.

How We Operate:
Board of Directors
The Board of Directors is the
policymaking body of the Meigs County Chamber of Commerce. Its members
represent the business and professional leadership of the community. The
board consists of 15 members. Board Members serve a three-year term, while
officers on the Board of Directors serve for a one-year term.
Committees
A committee system is the most effective
means of harnessing energies and abilities of volunteer workers. Members of
the Board of Directors oversee and direct all committees and any Chamber
member, if interested, can elect to serve on a committee. Current committees
include: Fundraising Committee, Transportation Committee, Auditing
